Why We Need Quality Sleep
Why we sleep is natural. We
just have to accept it that we need to sleep. We'll touch on a brief
discussion of the stages of sleep and after that, judge for yourself
why we need quality sleep. A comfortable air bed mattress can give us
the quality sleep we need.
Our
brain wave patterns while awake are characterized by a higher frequency
and lower amplitude than in the sleep states. Furthermore the patterns
are far from uniform compared to the sleeping states.
The
stages of sleep are observed because we have different brain activities
during each stage. It starts with the relaxation state(Alpha waves)
then to light sleep(theta) then to delta(deep sleep) and ends with
REM(rapid eye movement).
These
stages end after about 90 minutes of sleep then go back again to the
cycle leaving off the alpha state. The duration of each stage becomes
shorter as it moves to later cycles. The delta cycle is not reached
during the last cycles of sleep. When you have reached the required
cycles that your body needs, you are fully rested and fully energized.
It
has been observed that many electro-chemical changes occur in our body
during the period of sleep. Our body's healing and repair mechanisms go
to work while we are asleep to prepare us for the mental, physical and
spiritual challenges of the day ahead.
We
need 7 to 8 hrs of night time sleep but there are others who sleep less
but still at their peak during the waking hours. Not all of us needs
the same length of sleep and whatever sleep requirement you may need,
it's preferably better if the required duration is attained for the
sleep cycles to run its course. To sleep comfortably can get you a good
and quality sleep.
Never
deprive yourself of enough sleep. It has its health risks not just for
yourself but also for others. Deprivation of sleep lessens our
cognitive abilities, lessens our reflexes and lessens our alertness.
Imagine those reduction of your abilities while driving. Always have a
quality sleep.
